Hawell Magnetics offers both cast and sintered Alnico Magnets in a variety of grades, including Alnico 2, Alnico 5, Alnico 5-7, and Alnico 8.
.Cast Alnico is the most common form of Alnico magnet. Casting is often used to get "near net shape" Alnico magnets.
.Sintered Alnico magnets are not so commonly used due to lower magnetic performance and limitation to simpler shapes.
.Anisotropic magnets have the direction of magnetisation (DoM) permanently within the structure and give the maximum performance.
.Isotropic magnets can be magnetised in many ways as they have no preferred direction of magnetisation but give reduced performance.

Advantage |
.Excellent temperature stability up to 1,000° F; Alnico magnets are used today in high temperature applications, in applications |
requiring low coercivities (the ability to demagnetize and re-magnetize easily), .High residual induction: alnico magnets can |
produce powerful fields in certain configurations. .Alnico material does not corrode. .Cast alnico magnets can be produced in |
relatively complex shapes. .Tooling for cast magnets is relatively low, since sand molds are generally used for the casting |
process. |
Characteristic |
Magnetizing and Handling Alnico magnets require magnetizing fields of about 3 kOe. Because of their relatively low coercivities, |
special care should be taken to assure that these magnets are not subjected to adverse repelling fields, since these could |
partially demagnetize the magnets. Magnetized magnets should be stored with steel keepers to reduce the possibility of partial |
demagnetization. If Alnicos are partially demagnetized, they may be easily remagnetized. |
Application |
Casting Alnico Magnet: Automotive parts, instrumentation, electro-acoustic, electrical, teaching, guitar pickups and aerospace |
military and other fields Sintered Alnico Magnet: Instruments, meters, communications, magnetic switches and various sensors and |
other fields |

Common direction of magnetization showed in picture bellow:
1> Disc, cylinder and Ring shape magnet can be magnetized Axially or Diametrically.
2> Rectangle shape magnets can be magnetized through Thickness, Length or Width.
3> Arc shape magnets can be magnetized Diametrically, through Width or Thickness.
Special direction of magnetization can be customized as required.
